Introducing the ScavengeAir™ system utilizing long-lasting UgnCleanPellets®
The ScavengeAir™ system utilizes UgnCleanPellets®, an environmentally-friendly adsorbent for adsorbent for odor control and gas desulfurization systems. UgnCleanPellets® removes H2S using a hybrid approach with the use of iron oxides and other harmless compounds. It’s available as a stable and standardized pellet in various sizes.
UgnCleanPellets® media is engineered and produced in Germany, and is already in use at hundreds of sites worldwide. Now it’s available in North America through Green Gas Services!
UgnCleanPellets® are a highly-efficient filtering material based on biological-chemical reactions to completely remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from raw biogas.
They are available as biofilters or hybrid filters and can be customized to your specific filtering requirements.
HIGH OP X. With most media, odor control carries high maintenance costs.
LOW OP-X. UgnCleanPellets® don’t require pretreatment, eliminating the need for condensers or coolers, dangerous and toxic chemical compounds, or complicated processing facilities, thereby reducing both installation and maintenance costs. Reduced pressure loss results in lower electricity demand.

UgnCleanPellets® can be used in existing odor control and biogas treatment systems (e.g., activated carbon, ferric chloride, or scrubber) after a simple retrofit.
How do UgnCleanPellets® differ from alternative odor control and desulfurization systems?
A: While our system’s competitors can require the biogas to be dried in advance, UgnCleanPellets® are not adversely impacted by untreated, moist, and hot biogas or air. In addition, UgnCleanPellets® use a hybrid biological-chemical reaction to remove hydrogen sulfide as opposed to the purely chemical process used by activated carbon. This results in improved performance at a lower cost.
Are there any conditions which need to be in place before UgnCleanPellets® can be considered for use?
A: No-UgnCleanPellets® don’t require any pre-processing steps to be taken. The use of condensers, coolers, toxic chemicals, and complicated processing facilities are unnecessary, resulting in considerable capital and operational expenditure savings.
Why should our facility switch from our current odor or desulfurization media to UgnCleanPellets®?
A: There are significant benefits that come with choosing UgnCleanPellets® including: a streamlined odor control process, low op-x, long media life, small environmental impact, and the partnership with Green Gas Services, which comes with a UgnCleanPellets® purchase, including the management of the system.
How much do UgnCleanPellets® cost compared to alternative media?
A: It is a common mistake to compare the costs of competing media with UgnCleanPellets based on weight. Using activated carbon as an example, UgnCleanPellets® can be more expensive than a pound of activated carbon. However, since activated carbon is significantly heavier than UgnCleanPellets®, the pellets have greater per pound volume and, therefore, significantly more surface area than carbon. This results in an expanded capacity for adsorption leading to a longer life, pound for pound. This is especially the case when taking into consideration UgnCleanPellets® regenerating properties which make the pellets a significantly more cost-effective long-term purchase.
How much water and nutrients are required for the operation of a ScavengeAir UGN System and how does that compare with other media requirements?
A: Unlike other odor control systems, only a small volume of water is required to “wet” the UgnCleanPellets® at ScavengeAir™ System start up. Once the biological process for adsorption is initiated, water does not need to be added to the System until media regeneration is employed.
What is required for operations and maintenance and how does that compare to other odor control and desulfurization systems?
A: Very little oversight is required for the ScavengeAir UGN® system. Inlet and outlet monitoring equipment allow the entity to ensure the system is performing according to specifications. Should the facility choose, Green Gas Services will handle media replacement and responsible disposal.
What is the pH of the water that is drained from the system?
A: The ScavengeAir™ system requires very little drainage, and it is only necessary to drain water during the initial ScavengeAir™ system start-up and during regeneration cycles. Drained water does not contain harmful compounds and the pH of the water that is released is neutral, so pH balancing is unnecessary.
How do UgnCleanPellets® match up with alternative media in terms of media life?
A: The ScavengeAir™ system using UgnCleanPellets® can have a life 4-7 times longer than alternative odor control and desulfurization systems resulting in significantly lower operational costs due to minimal operations and maintenance expenses and less frequent media replacement.
If we already have an odor control system in place, can we retrofit our system to use UgnCleanPellets® instead of our current media?
A: Yes. If the existing system’s operational principles match those of the ScavengeAir™ system, the unit can easily be adapted for use with UgnCleanPellets™. Other types of systems can require additional retrofitting – all of which can be undertaken by Green Gas Services’ highly skilled team. Does the ScavengeAir system only remove hydrogen sulfide, or can it also remove other odiferous compounds?
A: The ScavengeAir™ system is a comprehensive odor control system which, in addition to hydrogen sulfide, captures Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), mercaptans, Ammonia, and other foul odors.
What are UgnCleanPellets® composed of?
A: UgnCleanPellets® ingredients consist of a proprietary blend of cellulose and iron oxides- natural, sustainable materials which do not negatively impact the environment in their production or disposal. Replacing alternative media with UgnCleanPellets® can save hundreds of tons of carbon emissions. Additionally, the spent pellets can even be land applied as a fertilizer!
